The Ugly Duckling

One fine summer’s day Mother Duck found a lovely spot under a willow tree by the pond to lay her eggs.  She nestled down and waited for them to hatch.
After what seemed to her a long time they began to crack which was very exciting.
First one little fluffy head appeared and she called him Oscar.
Then a second little fluffy head appeared and she called her Maya.
Then a third little fluffy head appeared and she called him Henry.
Then a fourth little fluffy head appeared and she called her Katie.
“Oh what sweet babies I have” she said “what a lucky mother I am.  But what has happened to the fifth egg I sat on?”
This egg was bigger than all the rest and showed no sign of cracking.  So, telling the ducklings to be patient and play where she could see them, Mother Duck settled down on the fifth egg.
Days later, much to her relief, a tiny crack appeared in the egg.  Slowly it grew bigger and bigger until POP, out came the ugliest ducking she had ever seen.
Days later, much to her relief, a tiny crack appeared in the egg.  Slowly it grew bigger and bigger until POP, out came the ugliest ducking she had ever seen.
The Ugly Duckling“Oh dear, oh dear” she said “what can have happened?  He doesn’t look at all like his brothers and sisters; he’s much bigger and he’s all grey and straggly”.
The other ducklings looked at him “Yuck” they said “what’s that?”
“Now, now” said Mother Duck “don’t be nasty, he can’t help what he looks like.  He’s your brother and I’m going to name him Jonathan”.
Mother Duck led them onto the pond for their first swimming lesson. As they floated onto the water all they could hear were comments and whispers:
“What a funny looking duck!”
“Where did he come from?”
“I haven’t seen one like that before”.
“Is it smelly as well as ugly?”
Poor Jonathan, he couldn’t bear it and felt very lonely. His brothers and sisters wouldn’t let him play with them. However much Mother Duck tried to encourage him, and tell him that she loved him, he just wanted to hide away.
So one day he decided that the only thing to do was to run away.  That night, when all the others were fast asleep, he crept down to the pond, swam across to the other side, and set off to find a pond of his own.
The Ugly Duckling
For many days he wandered, but every time he thought he’d found somewhere to stay he heard more whispers:

“What an ugly chap”
“Have you ever seen a beak like that?”
“That’s such a long neck you could tie it in a knot”
Poor Jonathan.  He was very sad.
Early one evening, as he was moping along, he heard a strange magical noise that seemed to come from the sky.  Looking up he saw the most glorious sight he had ever seen.
“I wish I could fly up there with those beautiful birds” he thought.  What he had seen was a flock of swans flying overhead.
On and on he went until he came to a river.  To his surprise, the strange birds he had seen in the sky were there floating majestically on the glistening water.  He hid behind some reeds ashamed of his ugly body.  Jonathan couldn’t take his eyes off these graceful white swans.
Suddenly, one of the swans caught sight of him peering out from the reeds and swam across to him
“Good evening young sir” he said bowing his neck “may I ask your name?”  Because swans are very polite.
Jonathan was too overcome to speak, his beak dropped open but no sound came. No-one had been that nice to him before.
He took a deep breath and tried again “Ppppppplease sir, mmmmy nnname is Jjjjjjjonathan”.
“Well Jonathan” said the swan, “why don’t you come and join us, it’s a beautiful day for a swim”.
“Bbbbut you ddddon’t want to be seen with me; I’m so ugly” said Jonathan.
“What nonsense” said the swan “whatever makes you think that?  Just look at yourself in the sparkling water”.
Jo

nathan bent his neck and looked down.  To his astonishment he saw, not an ugly grey duckling reflected in the river, but the most beautiful, graceful white swan.
“Is that really me?” he asked, forgetting to be nervous.
“Of course” answered the swan, “who did you think it was?”
Jonathan explained how everyone had been so nasty to him and the swan listened sympathetically.
“Well, you’re not ugly now” he said “you’re one of us”.
“Oh, how lucky I am” said Jonathan happily.
From that day on Jonathan lived with his new friends on the river.  Never again did people say horrid words about him. Each evening as the swans flew over the pond  his brothers and sisters would look up at the sky little knowing that one of them was the brother they had made so unhappy.

The Famous Merlion

Hello, there! This is my second post tonight because yeah once again I do both of these assignments (the other one is the previous post) late, so... please forgive me, Mrs. Wiwin, I really beg you :(((

OK, in this occasion, I'd like to tell you about one of uncountable amazing structures here in this world. Do you know what is it? Yep, it's Merlion Statue! Oh, I'm pretty sure that none of you doesn't know anything about Merlion Statue. Well, at least you have heard about it, haven't you?

As you know, Merlion is the mascot or icon and national personification of Singapore. Its name combines "mer" meaning the sea and "lion".  The Merlion was designed in 1964 for the Singapore Tourist Promotion Board (STPB) and functioned as its corporate logo from 1966 to 1997. There are five authorized Merlion statues in Singapore, the most well-known, which is the original one, is an 8 metres high and weighs 70 tonnes statue designed by Kwan Sai Kheong and sculpted by Lim Nang Seng. First unveiled on 15 September 1972, this statue is now located at Merlion Park, adjacent to One Fullerton at the Marina Bay waterfront. As a symbol representing Singapore, the Merlion features prominently in tourist souvenirs sold locally.

The lion head represents the lion spotted by Prince Sang Nila Utama when he rediscovered Singapore in 11 AD, as recorded in the "Malay Annals", and the fish tail of the Merlion symbolizes the ancient city of Temasek (meaning "sea" in Javanese) by which Singapore was known before the Prince named it "Singapura" (meaning "lion city" in Sanskrit).

The Merlion is representative of Singapore's humble begginings as a fishing village, and is a national icon that people must visit on their trip. Anyway, I have been to Singapore. Unfortunately, I didn't get a chance to take a photo in front of the original Merlion, so I just took a photo in front of the other Merlion which is located in Sentosa Island. Oh! However, I also got a chance to take a photo with the small Merlion Statue at Marina Bay waterfront! I have attached the photos below, hehe. Well, see you on the next post! Bye! :)

Matswapati

Me and my friends' selfie at Matswapati (1)

Hiiiiiiiii everyone! I am back! But first, I'd like to say sorry to my beloved Mrs. Wiwin because I do this assignment late. Please forgive me TT Okay! So, right now I'm gonna tell you about Matswapati.

Is there anybody here know about Matswapati? No one? Okay then. Well, Matswapati was one of my school, SMAN 3 Bandung's events. It's an culture festival that presented Indonesian culture especially West Java's. It was held on September 27th, 2014 at Lapangan Bali.

Me and my classmates after the parade
The gate was opened at around 9 o'clock. Before that, all of the 10th graders of our school did a parade for promoting Matswapati. Then, after we arrived back at Lapangan Bali, we waited for quite long time to get in to the culture festival. And after the gate opened, we happily queued and got in to Matswapati.

There was our mayor with his wife came to Matswapati to give a speech and legalize the event. He also made some short and simple games for the audience. It was really fun to interact directly because he's really humble!

Ridwan Kamil gave speech at Matswapati
Honestly..... to me, the event wasn't going so fun and interesting until there were some performances from some extracurriculars such as Musik Klasik 3, KV 3, and T'sT! Their performance were extremely cool!!! No doubt those extraculliculars are popular.

At around 3 o'clock, my best friend who goes to different school with me came to Matswapati. I was sooo excited because we hadn't met for about a month, or even more. So, since she got in to the venue, both of us were always stick together while sharing some untold stories, hahaha! We also went to the Food Corner to buy foods and beverages while having a chat X)

GLENN FREDLY!!!
The venue became more crowded since around 4 o'clock because the committees said that the gate would be closed after 4 o'clock, but it turned out to be postponed until 6 o'clock. There was a performance from Barsena. It was very nice! And finally... the long-awaited guest star came out! Guess who was he??? YES, IT'S GLENN FREDLY! Oh, come on, who's metropolitan guys in this country doesn't know him? He has a freaking nice and amazing voice, good songs, and unique style since he always wears his cap whenever he goes on stage! He started his performance at 6pm and ended it at 8pm. He sang almost 10 songs ((if I'm not mistaken)), some of them were Terserah, Kasih Putih, Malaikat Juga Tahu, Terpesona, etc. All of the audience sang along to the songs together! It was sooooooo entertaining, for real!!!!!!!! I just can't forget that exciting experience :"D

Anyway, the most amazing and cool thing of this event was that the ticket price was sooo cheap than the other Pentas Seni events that's held by other school. Guess how much it was! Oh, it was just IDR 25.000,- ! Can you guys believe it??? I mean- with so many performers and guest stars plus the costs for the decoration and other properties of this event, they managed it to be 25K only! It's unbelievable!!! Well, it proved that the committees were freaking swag, haha! but seriously XD they really did a great job!

Well. ok. I think that's enough from me about Matswapati. I really wish that this culture festival will be held again next year!

Unforgettable Vacation

Hiii readers! Wow, it's been a week since the last time I wrote a post, huh. You miss me, don't you??? HAHAHA okay, it's overconfident anyway. OK then, I will just tell you that in this post I'd like to share with you about my unforgettable moment!

Well, actually... I have lots of unforgettable moments so it's kind of hard too to choose one if them to be told here. But, I think I will just tell you about one of my exciting holiday! To be very very honest... this wasn't a real holiday, because my family and I went to this place during the school days, and I was absent for few days! Hehehe.

Oh! So, can you guess which place or city or country that I visited? None of you can guess it?? Okay then... well, my family and I visited Hong Kong on... ugh I totally forget when was it TT My mom, my brother, and I went there because we want to visit my father who was having a job there for 3 months. It was only a 3 days vacation but seriously, it was such an amazing experience!

So, let's begin the story.

3 of us went there by plane. We departed at night and we arrived early in the morning.  And you know what... my first impression when I arrived at Hong Kong International Airport was like... "OH MY GOD, WHAT AN AIRPORT!!! IT'S REALLY GREAT, EXTREMELY GREAT! IT'S VERY MAGNIFICENT AND SO BRIGHT BECAUSE THEY MOSTLY USE GLASS FOR THE WALL!" (Fine, I know it's too much but I was very impressed for real). OK, let's continue the story.

My father had waited for us at the airport, and we were so happy when we met again with him. After that, we looked for breakfast because we just arrived in the morning and we hadn't have a breakfast sooo yeah. After finishing our breakfast, we went to the apartment where my father stayed by bus. It's my first time to ride a bus in Hong Kong so it was very exciting to me. When we arrived at the apartment, we took a rest because the next day we're going to go to some places.

Honestly... I really forget what places that we visited on the second and the last day. So, I think I will just mention the places and tell a bit about them. I hope it's okay...😁

In Hong Kong, my family and I visited an amusement park named Ocean Park. We rode so many "vehicles" there, but the most exciting one was the cable car. And, oh! Talking about cable car, we also went to a place named Ngong Ping 360, but if we wanted to reach that place, we had to ride a cable car! But the difference was.... the cable car was mostly made from glass!! The wall and the floor(?) of this cable car was totally from very thick glass so it's very strong, however. But it was quite extreme because we could see what was underneath our cable car! X))

The other place we visited was The Peak. I'm pretty sure that this place's very popular. We could see the beautiful scenery of Hong Kong city! Oh, if we want to reach The Peak, we had to rode a train, but the interesting thing is that at one point, the train was at 45°!! ><

Before we went back to Indonesia, we bought some souvenirs for our friends and relatives. We went home with happy thoughts! Really, that was such experiencing, unforgettable vacation! ;)

About My Friend

Hi!!! How's day? Today, I'm back again with my new post! In this post, I'm gonna tell you about my friend. Just check it out!

Her name is Kirana Felinia Azzahra, and I usually call her Kirana. Since she is my classmate, she's supposed to be as old as me, but the fact is... she is younger than me! It's because she was born on February 20th, 2000 so now she is still 14 years old. But, that's okay anyway, as long as we are on the same grade c: hahaha~ anyway, she lives at Lombok Street No. 6A/S, Bandung.

She used to go to Merdeka 5/3 Elementary School and 7 Junior High School. Now, she is a student at 3 Senior High School, like me (obviously, because we are classmate! xD). She also wants to be a doctor---to be spesific---a pediatric, and she has a dream to study at Harvard Medical School in the future! :)

Okay, now I will tell you about her hobbies. To be honest..... she has the same hobbies with me! First, she loves to sing! And seriously, she has a reaaally good voice!!! You should listen to her voice later, and you will be amazed!
Besides singing, she also likes reading novels, and last but not least........... she loves to fangirling over K-pop artists, especially EXO!!! This is actually the thing that makes us become close friends. Yeah, both of us love this Korean boy group named EXO. We often listen to their songs together, sing their songs together, and get crazy about them together! Haha, pardon our craziness, please. Thank you

You know, Kirana and I have so many coincidental similarities! Let's mention some of them. First, both of us have a little brother, and our brothers are in the same age! Second, as I told you before, both of us love K-pop and we love EXO! Besides, some of our stationery are the same. And the funniest part is that we often say the same word at the same time! We always laugh immediately after that. We also have the same condition, like for example, both of us suffer from leg pain because of P.E. activities on last Saturday *sighs* but it becomes funny because we suffer from it together and at the same time, too!

For me, she is such a very nice girl. She is friendly, and as crazy as me! Haha~ Well, okay, I think I should stop praising her because if she read this part of my post, I'm 100% sure she will be overreacting! -.-v

Well, since this is the end of my post, I will make a statement. So, here.
I am glad to know Kirana, and I am happy to be her new friend (of course I said "new" because we just knew each other few months go when we entered this high school). All of our similarities like I've told you on the previous paragraph have made us become closer friends and I wish we could be "the real" close friend later. Okay, what I'm trying to say is that I wish we could be best friends later but I'm just too shy to say that -- (P.S. Kir, just don't be overreacting okay PLEASE I really beg you dear xx)

OK, I think it's enough for today's post about my friend. Gonna meet you guys again on the next post. Just wait for that! See ya! ;)

NOTE: Below is my photo with Kirana
Kirana is the one who's wearing (a kind of) jacket, hahaha :))

About Me

Hi everyone! My name is Cahyannisa Farah, and you can call me Sasha. I am 15 years old and I was born in Banjarmasin, on July 16th 1999. I am a 10th grader at SMA Negeri 3 Bandung. I live in Cibaduyut Lama, Bandung. Well... I think those sentences are really common for an introduction, right? So, I will just tell other things about me.

My hobby is listening to music, especially K-pop music. I'm pretty sure there are many people who don't like K-pop because they don't like the singers or artists for many reasons. Well, I'm not going to judge them too because I know people have their own interests. I also like western songs, anyway. And... oh! Besides listening to music, I like reading novels, too. Since I was in elementary school, I have loved reading. I used to buy kids novels. Now, I usually read novels that I think are interesting, such as Land of Five Towers (Negeri 5 Menara) trilogy, I Am Number Four, You Are The Apple of My Eye, etc. Honestly, I don't really like reading comics, but I love The Adventure of Tintin comics sooo much!

Oh, anyway, I'm going to tell you about my personalities. But, before I start it, I really hope that you won't be shocked nor stay away from me!! Hahaha~ OK, well... I am nice (of course, haha), and uhm... I'm talkative, friendly and I can make friends easily. And I'm a kind of person who is loyal to best friends! ;) You can trust me too if you want to share your secret or you need any advice for your problem. I'm ready to help you!
However... I am such a moody, sensitive girl. I'm also selfish and stubborn sometimes. Actually, there are still many of my bad behaviors that I want to tell you but I'm just too ashamed for that, haha *peace up*

Talking about my future dream... I really want to be a doctor or dentist, but... let me explain my goals. First, I want to finish my study at senior high school with good scores so that I can go to the university I want. After that, I really wish that I could have a chance to study abroad. Obviously, it's better if I can get a scholarship. In that way, I hope to become a good doctor or dentist. I wish I can make my dreams come true in the future.
Okay, I think it's enough for my introduction. If you want to know more about me, just ask me some questions! Haha~ see ya!
